Oral Surgery Q & A
What Surgical Extractions Can I Get at Academy Dental?
At Academy Dental, Dr. Thind and her experienced dental team are trained to provide a variety of extractions, including wisdom and impacted teeth removals, complex surgical extractions, and root tip extractions. Wisdom and impacted teeth may need to be removed because they are causing swelling, infection, or pain. For these removals, your mouth will be numbed to prevent discomfort and pain during the procedure, followed by an incision to remove any impacted teeth. A complex surgical extraction also involves making an incision, and is typically needed if the tooth is broken below the gums or if the tooth is in multiple pieces and some are lodged in the gums. Root tip extractions are necessary when parts of a tooth root remain in your jaw due to an unsatisfactory prior removal or a partially knocked out tooth.
When Should I Get My Wisdom Teeth Removed?
By attending regular dental visits, our dentists will be able to monitor and evaluate your wisdom teeth needs. There are multiple situations in which we could identify someone as needing a wisdom teeth removal. This includes an impacted tooth, crowding, infection, or pain as a result of your wisdom teeth. In these scenarios, our dentists would recommend scheduling a wisdom tooth removal in order to avoid further pain or possible complications.
Can I Get A Sinus Lift at Academy Dental?
When you are in need of a sinus lift, the very experienced dentists at Academy Dental are able to provide that service. A sinus lift is used to increase the amount of bone present in your upper jaw, something that is typically necessary prior to getting a dental implant on your upper jaw. Our team is committed to providing oral surgeries, including sinus lifts, in a comfortable environment with the most advanced techniques.
